LeeAnn Kress' Halloween Folk Art
LeeAnn Kress is a renowned folk artist, who has been creating her fabulous figures for Bethany Lowe Designs for quite a while. LeeAnn's creations are a labor of love and have both a touch of spooky and sweet combined! LeeAnn has always been fascinated with Halloween, which is the driving force behind her pieces and we are so lucky that Bethany Lowe is now reproducing her originals..
LeeAnn starts with a lump of clay and lets her creativity flow, transforming the clay into characters that we all love to decorate our homes with at Halloween. Most of her figures are a combination of mediums: so often you will find embellishments from fabric, paper accents, netting, rouched crepe or tinsel, but then they are finished with meticulous hand painting that brings the figure to life.
We love that a lot of her most popular figures are jointed, as you can see above in Vivian and Vincent Skullgrave. Probably our most popular jointed skeleton couple! Only their appendages are jointed, which makes them easy to sit on a shelf or stack of books. This spooktacular couple will charm their way into your hearts.
Lee Ann recently created 3 new jointed Halloween characters, which make a fabulous statement when all displayed together as you can see in our photo above. Treats Party Pumpkin Head, Boo Party Kitty and Tricks Party Skeleton have a hint of humor and fun, just what is needed when putting together a Halloween display.
But don't over look the one collection from LeeAnn Kress that really brought her to the forefront of Bethany Lowe's Halloween collector's favorites. The POISON APPLE collection has both in the small and large bucket sizes and the actual Poison Apple itself. The ominous skull face, which is formed from what looks to be dripping green tinged wax takes its inspiration from the sinister witch who wanted to send Snow White into sleeping death with her poisonous apple.
All of of LeeAnn Kress' designs will spark conversation and be the attention grabber in your Halloween displays!
