Batty Boy has a pale, weathered face with dark shading around his features, bold black eyebrows, and striking red eyes set beneath a sculpted crop of black hair. Tiny pointed teeth peek from his open mouth, while a deep red collar finishes the look. The intentionally aged surface, irregular sculpting, and scattered dark markings give the lantern the handmade character of old Halloween folk art.
