Designed by American folk artist Rachel Garrison, this 12-inch paper mache lantern doesn’t bother with subtlety. It beams with giddy Halloween energy, looking like it just heard there’s cake and candy corn at the snack table.
The head, shaped like a slightly decayed skull, is finished in a chalky white with worn speckling for a textured, vintage vibe. Bold painted features bring out its personality, especially the oversized grin that stretches across the face like it’s caught mid-cackle. Paper inserts in the eyes and mouth mean you can drop in an electric tea light underneath and watch this skeleton light up from within, transforming it from a quirky accent to a glowing Halloween beacon.
