From Old World Christmas. In medieval England, clay was called "pygg," and the small jars where people kept their coins became known as "pygg banks." One day a potter who was unfamiliar with the term, was asked to make some pygg banks, so he fashioned them to look like actual pigs! This glass Piggy Bank ornament looks like our modern day piggy banks, with its bright pink color, cute smiling face and round body. No need to smash this one open, he's his own treasure when hung on a Christmas tree!
