Framed in a fine gold border, this 5.25-inch Holy Family oval glass ornament features a beautifully detailed scene that feels like a classic work of religious art. One side presents the Holy Family, with Mary, Joseph, and the young Christ child seated together in a moment of quiet unity. The reverse side features a smooth, satin-like purple background, centered with an ornate cross design.
Between her and Joseph, Mary, wearing a flowing-sleeved, deep-red robe, carries the Christ child affectionately. The infant, dressed in a vivid green robe, looks out with a serene, astute smile as his little hands are in Mary's. Standing next to them, wearing a blue robe, Joseph stares down at the infant with a careful, compassionate glance as his protecting hand rests lightly on Mary's shoulder.
The figurines are framed by elaborate patterns and arching columns on a backdrop painted in rich hues. The space behind the family has hints of warm golds, gentle, luminous yellows, and deep greens, giving it depth and coziness. A gentle shine that catches the light of the ornament's fine lines of golden glitter that trace the folds of their clothing and the halos surrounding their heads.
An elaborate cross pattern sits in the center of a smooth, satin-like purple backdrop on the opposite side. Rich burgundy and deep green paint adorn the cross, which is also sprinkled with tiny, jewel-like white and gold highlights and bordered with delicate scrolling patterns. The overall effect is one of timeless beauty and superb workmanship.
This ornament is prepared to be hung on the tree and will give holiday festivities a deeper significance. It's a contemplative composition that offers a modest yet powerful approach to celebrate the spirit of the season for anyone who value the artistic quality of religious iconography.
