From Old World Christmas. One of the last of the 12 manned lighthouses in Alaska and the only one that didn't need major reconstruction over its 100+ years of service, the Eldred Rock Lighthouse has certainly earned its place as a historical site. Built during the time of the Gold Rush to prevent the many shipwrecks (some of the explosive variety from dynamite), this lighthouse is found along the banks of the Lynn Canal in Southeast Alaska.
