The Trinity Knot was originally designed to honor the Mother, Maiden and Crone of the Neo-pagan Triple Goddess, which represents the three life-cycles of a woman in relation to the phases of the moon. In modern times, it has come to represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit of the catholic trinity. It is especially found in Celtic art. It is also referred to as a triquetra and recalls the three leafed shamrock which St. Patrick offered as a symbol of the Trinity.
