- A Lori Mitchell design for ESC & Company
In preparation for the Hanukkah celebration, Nora embarked on a special task this year—to find a new menorah for her family. With excitement in her heart, she set out on a mission to discover a meaningful symbol of the Festival of Lights. Lori Mitchell has added Nora's Menorah to her collection of Judaica figures that along with Shayna Punim and David's Dreidel will make a festive collection for the Jewish holidays.
Nora's dedication to the holiday extended beyond just finding a menorah. She dressed in a beautiful blue frock adorned with the Star of David, proudly displaying her connection to the Jewish faith. A matching blue bow adorned her hair, and blue and white socks adorned her feet, representing the traditional colors of Hanukkah.
The menorah Nora chose holds deep symbolism. Its seven lamps are a reflection of the branches of human knowledge, each lamp representing a different facet of understanding. The six lamps inclined towards the central lamp symbolize their guidance and connection to the divine light of God.
As the flames flicker on a menorah, they evoke the story of creation, spanning seven days. The central lamp, representing the Sabbath, shines brightly, illuminating the path towards spiritual enlightenment and rejuvenation.
Nora's Menorah stands as a testament to the rich traditions and profound symbolism of Hanukkah. It serves as a reminder of the miraculous events that unfolded during this holiday, when a single day's worth of oil burned for eight days, exemplifying the resilience and faith of the Jewish people.
With the glow of the menorah casting a warm and comforting light, Nora and her family gather around, recounting stories of ancient triumphs and embracing the joyous spirit of Hanukkah. The menorah becomes a beacon of hope and a symbol of unity, guiding them through the eight nights of celebration.
As Nora's Menorah takes its place on the festive table, it becomes more than just a decorative piece—it becomes a cherished heirloom, passed down through generations, embodying the enduring traditions and the eternal light of Hanukkah.
