A terrific election year ornament or a fun ornament for a Patriotic themed tree, this glass disc is double-sided with a painted red elephant against a blue background, and white stars and stripes that compliment the red glittered sides. The elephant became associated with the Republican party in the 19th century, when Thomas Nast for Harper's Weekly in 1864 drew a donkey clothed in lion's skin, scaring away all the animals at the zoo. One of those animals was the elephant, wearing a label, "The Republican Vote", forever linking the elephant to the Republican Party.
