From Old World Christmas. St. Christopher assisted people in crossing a dangerous river. A child asked for help, and as he was carried across, the river became swollen and the child grew heavier. After a great struggle, they reached the other side. The child revealed himself to be Christ and thanked St. Christopher for protecting him. Sitting on his shoulders, the baby Jesus is held aloft, high above the water on this Saint Christopher ornament.
